In 1991 Governor Buddy Roemer presented a proclamation that
declared Winnsboro to be one of the most patriotic cities in America
Among the many points of local interest is the Princess Theatre. It was originally established in 1925, and moved 2 years later into a building on Prairie Street where it stands today. Other area attractions are the Natchez Pilgrimage Tours, the Rosalie Mississippi State DAR and others.
      
Also of great interest is the Franklin Parish Catfish Festival, the largest one-day festival in the state with an estimated 40,000 attendees celebrating the Franklin Parish Catfish Industry. This annual event features over 300 arts, crafts and food booths.
  
There are 11 public schools in Franklin Parish as well as 4 private schools. Public primary and middle schools include Winnsboro Elementary School, Winnsboro Junior High School and others.
